Cat Palmer has recently moved into Primrose Terrace to share a house with her best friend Polly and Polly's brother Joe.
Within a very short time she loses her job in a nursery and so decides to set up her own business dog walking. Cat really loves dogs and would like to have one of her own but Joe won't allow dogs in the house.
Cat gets to know the other residents in Primrose Terrace, for some she walks their dogs, and for others she tries to help them where she thinks they need it, or interferes in their lives, albeit with the best of intentions!
The story runs over a year finishing at Christmas time rather than being a story completely about Christmas.
