Beating about the Bush (Agatha Raisin) by M C Beaton

Private Detective Agatha Raisin, when driving past hedgerows in the countryside, will often say 'nice place to dump a body'.  She shouts at her assistant Toni and tells her to stop the car as she has seen something in the hedge.  They go back to look and find a severed leg.

This then links into their current investigation job of industrial espionage at a local factory.  Agatha realises that she has been set up to investigate something which is not really happening but is a cover for other dodgy dealings.  Then there is a murder.  Agatha is determined to find out who the murderer really is when the police decide that the death was an accident involving a donkey.

I have also read:
Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death
Agatha Raisin and the Potted Gardener
Agatha Raisin: Hell's Bells (a Christmas e-book)

Casper the Commuting Cat by Susan Finden

This is an autobiography by Susan Finden who was the owner of Casper, a very friendly and inquisitive cat.

Susan has rescued and given a home to many cats over many years.  She tells the story of Casper, a black and white cat who initially was very timid and hid under the bed when he was first brought home.  He liked to be able to go outside and would escape if kept indoors for any amount of time.  Casper liked to go on adventures and initially unbeknown by Susan he visited shops and factories to see people.  After a house move to Plymouth to a road with a bus stop opposite, Casper began waiting in the bus shelter and was soon boarding the bus along with the queueing pasengers and having a regular ride around town.  He even had his favourite seat.

The story of Casper and his travels appeared in a local newspaper, and was then picked up by national papers and he became a national celebrity.  A picture of Casper and Susan was placed on the side of the number 3 bus on which he used to travel.
