A Wedding in Cornwall by Laura Briggs

American Julianne can't believe her luck when she is offered the job of events planner in a  country house in Cornwall.  She moves to England to take up the post and the first event she has to arrange is a high profile wedding between a footballer and a model.

The bride and groom have different ideas about what they want and this is the first time Julianne has had to arrange a big event on her own.  Although everyone in the house is happy to help, not everything goes as smoothly as it might.

Julianne meets Matthew Rose in the garden when she accidently steps on some of his protected plants.  She is attracted to him but he has some history with the unhappy bride to be.

This is the first book in a series.

I also have A Cornish Christmas Reunion by the same author.

Steeped in Suspicion (A Pebble Cove Teahouse Mystery) by Eryn Scott

Rosemary has not visited Pebble Cove since she was a child.  Following the death of her father, her mother and paternal grandmother had a falling out and had not been reconciled. This meant that Rosemary did not visit again and had lost touch with her grandmother. Having received a letter from a solicitor advising that her grandmother had died and left her house and teahouse business to Rosemary, she returns to Pebble Cove.

On entering the house Rosemary meets Asher, who is a ghost who had lived in the house 100 years ago.  He is surprised that Rosemary can see him.  He tells her that as her grandmother died and her spirit passed him, she told him that she had been murdered.  The body of an unknown man then washes up on the beach outside the house.  The police think that Rosemary is a suspect as they find her name within his belongings.

Rosemary sets out to find who murdered her grandmother and why.  Whilst she is investigating each of the people she thinks is a possible suspect, she realises that her own life could now be at risk too.

This is the first book in a series.  This was a free Kindle download.  Also available to download is an extra chapter which tells the story of Rosemary and Asher's first meeting but from his point of view.

Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella

Emma has tried a few different career paths.  She is currently working as a marketing assistant and is hoping for a promotion in a months time when she gets to the end of her first year.

She is sent to Scotland to attend a meeting as the company representative to finalise a deal.  It doesn’t go well.  On the plane back home there is a lot of turbulence and a very scared Emma, who thinks she is going to die, tells all her secrets to the man sitting next to her.

Unfortunately the stranger on the plane ends up being one of the founders of Panther Corporation, her employer, who is travelling to London to visit the company’s head office.  To her embarrassment he has a very good memory and has remembered everything that Emma told him.

Final Cut by SJ Watson

Film-maker Alex is looking for a place to shoot her new documentary film.  It is to be a compilation of clips filmed and submitted by locals.

Blackwood Bay is suggested anonymously to the film backer.  It has a history of young girls going missing and there has also been a suicide.  This will give an added interest to the storyline.

Alex, who has no memory before turning up on Deal beach a number of years ago, knows she has some connection to Blackwood Bay from her childhood and is very reluctant to return.

She travels to Blackwood Bay and knows that no-one there will recognise her as she has changed a lot over the years.  Whilst doing her own filming in the area and accepting in the clips submitted, she becomes concerned for some of the local girls and as well as wanting to help them she starts to investigate some of the disappearances from years ago.

This is a really involved story which investigates what happened to Alex and what is continuing to happen to the young girls in the village.

I have also read Before I Go To Sleep by the same author.

Girl with the Cat Tattoo by Theresa Weir

Two years ago Melody's husband David was shot and killed.  She has been living with just Max who had originally been David's cat.

Max decides that it's time for Melody to find a good man to have in her life.  He is fed up of her occasionally bringing home unsuitable men.  Max, who doesn't usually go outside the garden, heads off out to find a perfect partner for Melody.

Max finds Joe serving food in a homeless shelter.  Joe returns Max back to Melody who is frantic with worry as he has disappeared.  At first Max is happy that he has found the right person for Melody, but then he has doubts and even begins to wonder if it was Joe who had shot David.

Hercules and the Farmer's Wife by Chris Wadsworth

This is the autobiographical story of Chris Wadsworth setting up an art gallery in the Lake District.

Chris and her husband Michael moved from Bristol to a large house in Cockermouth in the Lake District.  The house was large enough for Chris to turn part of it into an art gallery.  Each chapter tells a story about meeting different artists, or a part of the history/life of an artist whose work Chris has found and exhibited.

The house has a walled garden which allows sculptural exhibits to be shown outside too.
