Beth Prudhomme moved to Portland from Chicago to get away from her overbearing mother and to take control of her own life.
After being set up on a blind date to meet mechanic Sam Carney, Beth is involved in a car accident. Sam witnessed the accident and went to Beth's aid. Sam regularly visits Beth in hospital and they become friends. Beth's mother would definitely not approve of Sam, he is not at all what she wants for her daughter.
Sam has not had a serious relationship for many years. He has been hurt in the past and has some secrets he really doesn't want to share.
I have previously read 'Falling for Christmas', and have 'A Mother's Gift' and 'On a Snowy Night' on my bookshelf by the same author.
