On 24 December 2020 Ben meets his friend Harv in a pub for a quick drink. He wants to have a serious conversation with Harv and tell him his marriage to Daphne is looking rocky and that he has plans to meet up with Alice, an old friend from university, in a few days time. Instead, after a couple of drinks and some banter, he leaves the pub having been given a broken watch by an unknown old man. The hands of the watch are stuck at one minute to midnight.
The next morning Ben wakes up to find himself back in university in December 2005 on the very day he met Daphne. As the time approaches midnight he jumps again to re-live another day a couple of years later. Each time he jumps he has an opportunity to find out something he missed the first time around and to see what life was like with Daphne and what it would be like without her. He also jumps into the future and can see what his life would be if he chose Alice over Daphne.
The concept of the story is borrowed from Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’. Ben needs to work out who he wants to be with and what he really wants to do with his life.
