At 2am Sophie wakes up to find a stranger sitting in her bedroom. The intruder hands her an envelope and tells her she must open it at 8pm that evening in front of her family at her 40th birthday party. She must not tell anyone or her family will be in danger. He then takes her mobile phone, tells her he will be watching and leaves.
Sophie is too scared to stay on her own so goes to her sister's house. There she finds out that her fiancé has secretly been arranging for the party that evening to be their surprise wedding ceremony. All day Sophie has to spend time with her family pretending that she doesn't know about the wedding and keeping the envelope and her family safe.
