The Perfectly Imperfect Woman by Milly Johnson

When she was a small child Marnie Salt used to run errands for the old lady next door and help her with her baking.  Marnie found out that cheesecake exists and helped to make them.

As an adult Marnie is not very lucky in love, she always seems to find the wrong men.  After another disastrous relationship has abruptly ended Marnie meets Lilian in an on-line baking chat room. In a drunken hazy Marnie shares a lot of information about her life with Lilian who then invites her to attend a fate in her village in the Yorkshire Dales.

Marnie goes along and ends up staying in one of the cottages, temporarily, and sets up her own cheesecake making business from the cottage.  She and Lilian quickly become really good friends.  Then unexpectedly Marnie has not choice but to stay in the village and help to turn its fortunes around.  This makes her very unpopular with some of the locals.
