Polly Waterford owns and runs the Little Beach Street Bakery on the island of Mount Polbearne in Cornwall. She lives in a lighthouse with her American boyfriend Huckle and their pet puffin Neil.
Christmas is approaching, the temperature is getting cold and the Little Beach Street Bakery is busy.
Huckle would like to marry Polly and start a family but she keeps putting it off. When Kerensa, Polly's best friend, tells her a secret things start to become awkward and knowing this secret begins to put a big strain on Polly and Huckle's relationship. They were expecting to spend a quiet Christmas together just watching films and drinking champagne, but with all the demands on Polly's time it doesn't look like this is going to happen.
