Dr Anna Fox is agoraphobic. She has not been outside her house for 10 months. She spends a lot of time watching people through her window and knows the habits of her neighbours. A new family, the Russells, move into a house across the park. Anna investigates them on-line to find out who they are and then starts to watch them too.
First Anna hears a scream. She can't see what has happened but she knows that it has come from the Russell's house. Then she sees the mother slump down, with a knife in her stomach, and reach out towards the window with a bloody hand.
Anna phones the police. They do not believe her story. Mr and Mrs Russell and their son Ethan all confirm that nothing has happened in their house. The Mrs Russell the police introduce to Anna is not the same lady she has met and seen stabbed.
Anna is determined to find out what has happened and who the imposter Mrs Russell really is.
