On a Saturday morning suddenly lots of the Promise Falls residents become ill. Many are being violently sick, feeling dizzy and having stomach pains. The hospital and emergency services are struggling to cope. Already lots of people are dead and the hospital has no cure.
Detective Barry Duckworth starts to investigate. He realises that the date is the 23rd of the month. This is another crime related to the number 23.
Local businessman Randall Finley sees a promotional opportunity to hand out bottles of water when it is thought the link to the illnesses may be the town's water supply. This also makes him a prime suspect.
This is the third and final book in the Promise Falls Series. We find out the relevance of the number 23, who is causing the chaos in Promise Falls and why.
