Ex-police and now a DNA Analyst, Dr Sian Love moves into her new home.  It is the old, and now closed, Loggerheads pub in Nottingham.  She has inherited the property from her Uncle Rob.

Her dog is agitated and so together they go down into the cellar to check out the problem.  Sian finds the remains of two bodies.  She knows that she should leave the investigations to the police but she does not trust them.

The story moves from the late 60s and early 70s to tell Bobby's story and back to 2017 to Sian and her investigations and the interference she expected from the police.

Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer

The story is based on the true events of George Mallory attempting to climb Mount Everest.

George falls in love with Ruth, but he also loves climbing, and he is given the opportunity, along with a small group of other experienced climbers, to attempt to reach the summit of Mount Everest.  The group would be the first ever to climb that high.  If he reaches the summit George plans to leave a photograph of his wife at the top of the world.

There are some tensions within the group, particularly with George Finch who believes they will need oxygen to be able to climb up to the very highest peak.

The Break-Up Book Club by Wendy Wax

A group all regularly attend a book club meeting at Between the Covers bookshop.  They talk about the book they have just read, drink plenty of wine and share nibbles and cakes.

Single mum and sports agent Jazmine invites her new PA Erin to attend a club meeting.

Judith, who attends with her friend Meena, is beginning to question why it is she and not her husband Nate who has had to make all the sacrifices in their marriage.

Sara, who also works occasional shifts in the bookshop, has her mother-in-law living with her whilst her husband is working away and they don't really get on very well as Dorothy makes no secret that she feels her son could have done much better for himself.

Together the group support and encourage each other through the ups and downs in their lives.

A Parcel for Anna Browne by Miranda Dickinson

Working on a reception desk in a busy London office, Anna Browne regularly signs for delivered parcels.  One day a parcel is addressed to her.  It has no senders name and contains no message, just a really lovely gift.  Anna has no idea who the gift is from but it makes her happy.

Over the next few weeks more gifts arrive.  All are anonymous but each one gives Anna more and more self confidence.  As Anna become more confident, others begin to notice this in her too.  It could even lead to a date with a colleague.  Everyone is really curious about the unexpected gifts and the identity of the sender.
