After a one night stand with a man from work, Suzi and her husband Nick move out of London into an isolated cottage in the country. Suzi has given up work, is pregnant and lonely. Nick is controlling and always seems to know if she hasn't done things exactly as he requests. He leaves instructions about what she is to cook and insists that she spends an hour each day walking the dog.
Nora moves into the dilapidated cottage next door. Suzi and Nora begin to make friends and Suzi feels that she may have someone she can confide in about what is happening in her life.
Elle is a widow. Her husband has recently died in a car crash. She is struggling financially as all the money they had seems to have vanished. She slowly unearths more information about her husband to find that he really wasn't the person she thought he was.
