Twenty five years after they met at University, six friends get together for a reunion. Bill has been out of the country for years, only visiting to attend Cal and Jodie's wedding, but he has now returned to England.
Ali hosts the evening at her family home. She and Mike married before Cal and Jodie but Bill didn't return for their wedding. They now have two children. The other friend, Karen, who is Ali's best friend, has remained single. She brings her teenage son with her to stay for the weekend.
Late in the evening, after a meal and a lot of alcohol have been consumed in the garden, Karen staggers into the kitchen. She is bruised and bleeding and claims that she has been attacked and raped by Mike.
Ali has to decide if she believes her best friend Karen, or her husband of 20 years Mike. They both tell different stories about what has happened.
The trauma of the evening brings back memories of their last night at University when after the ball Martha was found murdered. The murderer was never found.
