Since her divorce Gilly has run a B&B from Fairacres, her family home, which she had to fight hard to keep, but now her children are grown and she is on her own. Helena, Gilly's daughter, is a weaver and is renting space for her looms whilst son Martin, married to Cressida, is very ambitious.
Martin and Cressida hatch a plan for Gilly to sell Fairacres and put the money from the sale into buying a large house for them with a granny annexe. Gilly will then be on hand to look after their daughter.
After meeting the handsome estate agent Leo, Gilly starts to wonder if perhaps she should consider selling the house. Helena has an unusual talent of never forgetting a face and she knows that she has seen Leo somewhere before. Jago her landlord, offers to do some investigating to find out more about Leo.
