This is the first book in the new Prudence Bulstrode series written by the chef Rosemary Shrager.
Prudence is a retired TV chef. When her old rival Deirdre Shaw suddenly dies whilst catering for a weekend shoot at Farleigh Manor, Prudence is asked to step in and take over. Prudence takes her grand-daughter Suki with her to help.
There is something about Deirdre's death in the rhubarb patch that keeps niggling at Prudence. There is also another death that happened at the Manor many years ago which has remained unexplained. After eating the first evening meal prepared by Prudence and Suki all the members of the shoot become ill.
Suki, along with her friend Numbers who she is in regular contact with over the phone, investigate the old murder and any links between Deirdre and the current guests at the Manor. If Deirdre was murdered there are now 2 unexplained murders for Prudence and Suki to investigate. And are the rest of the guests at risk too?
