Having worked really hard in her father's PR company without a holiday for years, Tess Tyler is feeling tired and in need of a break. Then she discovers some old letters which indicate that her parents' marriage was not as solid and happy as she believed and she needs to get away from her father for a while.
She decides to re-visit Wynmouth where, as a child, she had lots of happy family holidays. She takes an immediate break from work and sets off to stay in a small holiday let cottage that she always admired on previous visits. She does not tell anyone where she is going.
Tess makes friends with a number of the locals and extends her stay. There are a few people that she remembers from childhood, but she doesn't tell them she has visited before. She helps the locals to set up some events on the beach and in the pub to attract more business.
